One Bathroom, One Dressing Room & Absolutely No Ordinary Walls
"One Bathroom, One Dressing Room & Absolutely No Ordinary Walls."
First, one small bathroom became something completely unexpected.
Turtle Girls Market is filled with work from incredibly talented artists and artisans, so creating these spaces felt like both an honor and an invitation to do something completely unexpected.
One small bathroom became an underwater-meets-shipwreck escape, with distressed blue-and-white walls, abstract sailboats, vintage-inspired details and an octopus that refused to stay contained. Alayna—my incredibly talented youngest daughter, whose artwork you will be seeing much more of in the near future—hand-painted the tentacles spilling across the door. They quickly became one of my favorite details in the entire project.
The neighboring bathroom was no longer functional, so it was completely transformed into a dressing room. Out came the toilet and sink, and in went a custom bench, an illuminated full-length mirror, unique clothing hooks and layers upon layers of turquoise, coral, pink and weathered white. The framed reminder—“Darling, you look stunning”—was the perfect finishing touch.
I am genuinely obsessed with how these rooms came together. They are bold, colorful, a little wild and completely at home inside Turtle Girls Market. My goal was to make every corner feel Instagram-worthy—because even a bathroom or dressing room can become part of the experience. This was one of those projects where every new idea inspired another, and it was far too much fun to play it safe.
